My husband and I are stationed on the opposite side of the U.S. from ANY of our family members. Every year we invite other families to our house and have a HUGE Thanksgiving meal. We also invite the young troops we both work with. Alot of them are away from home for the first time, can't afford to go back and have no where to go. We have a house full of people EVERY year and have a blast!

Consider doing the same!

Or...to make it a little more adventurous, have a progressive dinner! That's when one person has appetizers at their house, then everyone piles in their cars and drives to the next house where the main course is shared. And then, on to the next house for dessert! BONUS - this idea is sure to cut the amount of dishes you'll have to do by yourself after everyone leaves!

Pinching pennies this Thanksgiving? Have a potluck! Everyone can pitch in with sides and desserts and you save a ton of money!

President Obama has commissioned a task force to reduce our billions of dollars of our countries national debt. One of the measures this task force has recommended is a three-year freeze on noncombat military pay starting in 2011.

Other proposals in The National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform include modernizing Tricare, a one-third reduction in U.S. military bases overseas, and a reduction in spending on base support and facilities maintenance.
